Job Description:

The Department of Comparative and Biomedical Sciences in the School of Veterinary Medicine (Vet Med) at Louisiana State University and A&M College (LSU) invites applications for a 12-month postdoctoral position. Experience with molecular biology techniques, cell culture, qRT-PCR, genomics, proteomics and bioinformatics are preferred. The candidate is expected to demonstrate independence in experimental design and execution, work effectively with others in a collaborative setting, present results at both national and international meetings, and publish. 

Job Responsibilities:

80% - Research: The successful candidate will  perform  biochemical, molecular biological and behavioral experiments. Maintain Drosophila culture and transgenic stocks. Prepare fly food. 

15% - Managing daily operations of the laboratory.  Provide oversight and guidance to students. Maintenance and upkeep of  instrumentation and keeping records and protocols. Conduct research in the area of expertise, publish research findings in refereed journals.

5% - Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. or equivalent

Specific Experience - A record of participation in research and peer-reviewed publications. Experience in Drosophila culture, molecular biology, microscopy

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences and record of significant participation in research activities as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications. 

Special or Physical Qualifications:

Physical Requirements - Required to be cable of lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, sitting or walking for prolonged periods, bending, vision near sight, vision far sight, able to reach above and below the shoulder, climbing, pushing, pulling, grasping, and squatting.
