Dissection Assistant

POSITION PURPOSE
Responsible for working closely with the Anatomy Lab Director to prepare professional dissections of embalmed cadavers for all Applied Anatomy courses. Employee will assist Lab Director with producing professional dissections and enforcing laboratory safety. Dissections are performed regionally with most of the dissections occurring during winter semester.
Depending on qualifications, the dissection assistant(s) will aid in laboratory instruction during assigned lab times for anatomy courses. In addition, laboratory tutoring, in the late afternoon or early evenings, and on weekends, could be a duty depending on the employee's availability, expertise, and student needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Cadaver Dissection
a. Maintain cadavers with appropriate chemical preservatives and wetting agents.
b. Participate in dissection of 6-8 human cadavers in the RMUoHP laboratory.
2. Instruction and Tutoring
a. Potential participation in laboratory instruction if qualified.
b. Potential participation in after-hours instruction and tutoring if qualified.
WORKING REQUIREMENTS/CONDITIONS
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree with coursework that is relevant to human gross anatomy
Required Knowledge:
Candidates that have graduate-level training in anatomy or related disciplines will receive priority consideration for the position.
Experience Required:
Documented experience in human cadaver dissection.
