Job Description

Collins Aerospace is seeking motivated Systems Engineers join the Next Gen Systems team supporting development of the Collins Flight Deck. This role offers the opportunity to work on real avionics programs and gain hands-on experience across the systems lifecycle—from requirements and architecture through integration, verification, and delivery. 

As part of the team, you will work alongside experienced engineers to help define high-level system behavior, decompose requirements, support avionics architecture development, and contribute to system verification activities. This is a strong fit for those who enjoy solving technical problems, learning complex systems, and collaborating across software, systems, and test disciplines. 

What You Will Do:

  • You will lead the design, development, and maintaining of flight-critical embedded software for military avionics displays supporting programs such as KC-135, AWACS, C-130, E-2D and beyond.
  • You will conduct engineering processes and standard work, including verification, design, and qualification procedures.
  • You will assist in conducting disciplinary research on one or more stages of the equipment design phase to develop design options and recommendations.
  • You will determine end user needs by analyzing system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements and input data acquisition.
  • You will assist an engineering team by organizing tasks, coordinating team efforts, asking questions, communicating status, raising issues, brainstorming ideas, helping others, practicing active listening, and promoting a collaborative environment.

Qualifications You Must Have: 

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • DO-178 (or similar) certification-based development experience.
  • Python scripting language experience
  • Avionics experience (development or usage)
  • AGILE development experience.
  • Willingness to travel (domestic and international <10%).
  • Excellent, proactive, communication (written, verbal, and interpersonal).
