Founding AI/ML Engineer

Legalyze.ai is an AI startup that aims to help lawyers and individuals save time and money by using AI to speed up their legal work.

We are post-revenue and post-product and are looking for a Founding AI/ML Engineer to assist us with scaling and growing our AI product. You will join our current AI Engineers and lead the development of our SaaS AI application.

The ideal candidate for this role is a self-starter motivated by making a difference in an industry.

Ideally, you have experience with building LLMs, fine-tuning, and model training. In addition to this, the candidate must also have expertise in architecting a scalable backend and experience with vector databases.

Python experience is required.

We are remote-first but collaborate daily through different communication tools.

This job will receive backpay until Legalyze.ai raises venture capital and receives an equity position of 3-5% in Legalyze.ai.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience building, deploying, and maintaining machine learning models in production environments
• Expertise in transformers, embeddings, and especially experience with large language models (LLMs)
• Experience with model optimization and compression to ensure high performance in production
• Experience with model training, fine-tuning, evaluation, and monitoring model drift
• Hands-on experience architecting scalable backend infrastructure to serve high-throughput AI/ML workloads
• Experience with vector databases such as Chroma or Pinecone for efficiently storing and retrieving vector embeddings
• Proficiency with Python
• Experience with LangChain or LlamaIndex is a plus
• Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, and MLOps best practices for taking models to production
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Experience collaborating closely with product and engineering teams at a startup
• BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field
