ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB’s Raleigh, NC office is looking for a talented Transportation Engineering Intern to join our team! This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic team across diverse disciplines, giving you exposure to a wide variety of projects in size and scope.
This is a part-time internship opportunity for the spring/summer of 2025.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with VHB staff, clients, and consultants to advance projects in a timely manner.
- Assists in the development of transportation design plans and specifications.
- Prepares cost estimates for various projects.
- Utilizes CAD software (OpenRoads/MicroStation) to complete key deliverables for our design team.
- Analyzes and interprets data.
- Uses spreadsheets and visualization tools to process and analyze data.
- Uses and supports database applications and analytical tools.
- Creates basic software programs to process and analyze data.
- Prepares data analysis in report and in presentation format.
- Clearly communicates the conclusions of data analysis.
- Completes routine data and system configuration tasks
- Completes routine data quality tasks
- Imports and exports data to fulfill data requests
- Completes routine business system configuration and maintenance tasks
- Performs all job functions in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and VHB policies and procedures.
Skills and Attributes
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to independently perform multiple tasks and interact appropriately and positively with coworkers.
- Self-motivated with attention to detail.
- A strong work ethic and a desire to learn and achieve.
Qualifications
- Interest in pursuing a career in civil engineering, or a related field.
