Office Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay Range: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour, depending on experience, plus overtime as needed.

Position Overview

The Environmental Laboratory Analyst is integral to our mission, performing air sample analyses in compliance with NELAC standards and EPA regulations. This role requires attention to detail, a strong chemistry background, and a commitment to data integrity. Located in Carrollton, TX, this lab provides the perfect setting to grow your career in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.

Required Qualifications

• Education:
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry.
• Experience:
• 1-2 years in an analytical or environmental laboratory.
• Technical Skills:
• Preferred proficiency in ion chromatography (Chromeleon software) and gas chromatography (PeakSimple software).
• Familiarity with NELAC/NELAP standards and instruments like fluoride meters and pH meters is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

Sample Management and Analysis:

• Approve, log, and process air samples, including PM, M26/M26A, M6/8, M18, and M13B.
• Perform analyses using ICS 1100 systems, SRI GC, Orion fluoride meter, and Oakton pH meter.

Data Integrity and Reporting:

• Maintain detailed and accurate records of all analyses and QC data.
• Compile and report results in compliance with EPA and NELAC standards.

Instrument Maintenance and Calibration:

• Conduct routine maintenance and calibration of lab instruments.
• Candidates with troubleshooting skills will stand out.

Independent Workflow and Communication:

• Manage daily tasks and provide consistent updates to the Lab Manager.
• Ensure seamless task transitions and effective collaboration.

Other Duties:

• Prepare reagents and media for lab and field use.
• Adhere strictly to lab safety protocols.

Daily Workflow and Growth Opportunities

• Sample Types: Air samples from stack tests, including PM, M26/M26A, M6/8, and M18.
• Volume: 0-5 samples daily, with potential growth to 10-15 samples.
• Quality Control: Integrated into lab forms (no LIMS system).
• Career Path: Opportunities to advance to Analyst II, Assistant Manager, or roles in QC/QA or Tech Services.

Work Environment

• Physical Requirements: Standing for extended periods (anti-fatigue mats provided).
• Safety Equipment: Lab coats, safety glasses, gloves, fume hoods, face shields, and spill kits provided. Weekly safety shower tests ensure safety.
• Team Structure: Small, collaborative two-person team, reporting directly to the Lab Manager.
