About the role
Responsible for originating and servicing primarily SBA and SBA 504 business loans (including Construction and C&I) and other conventional type of commercial loans. Develops new business and expands existing relationships. Maintains knowledge of commercial loan products and services, as well as knowledge of the industries or market areas served. Knowledge in all aspects of SBA Lending with a proven track record of sourcing, processing and closing SBA loans. Knowledge of SBA 7(a), and 504 loan programs, eligibility requirements and structure, as well as an understanding of SBA Standard Operating Procedures and regulations. Calls on potential customers, identifies banking needs, secures financial data for analysis, and makes proposals for new business. Gathers credit application information concerning business needs, desires, abilities, and earnings to determine loan needs. Makes preliminary credit decisions to recommend for approval or declination of loans within credit limits by performing basic credit analysis on the loan proposal. Communicates and negotiates credit terms and repayment schedules within established guidelines. Responsible for identification and evaluation of deteriorating loan situations to recognize charge-off loans early and manage credit to minimize losses. Works with Portfolio Managers to follow-up, collections, or delinquent and problem loans as requested. Possesses knowledge of business products and services. Proactively identifies cross-sell and up-sell opportunities and educates members on self-service options to expand member relationships. Completes any other job- related duties needed to help drive to our Vision, fulfill our Purpose, and abide by our Organization’s Values.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Accounting, Finance or equivalent education and/or experience. Five years in commercial lending (real estate, construction, C&I and SBA) and managing a commercial loan portfolio and Two years of credit analysis/underwriting experience or equivalent commercial lending experience. Proven track record in sales ability/aptitude and business development. The ability to take initiative and make independent decisions in the best interest of the Credit Union and Member.
