Description

We're seeking a dedicated Assistant Director, Genetic Counseling to continue the growth of our team at our Emory Clinics. The Assistant Director, Genetic Counseling has generalized involvement in all genetic counseling services, to include program design and development, on-going management, physician and clinician engagement, and fiscal oversight (budget management, ROI tracking, etc.). You will work in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team and is responsible for managing, coordinating, and overseeing the complete care of the patient to ensure high quality care across all care delivery sites. You will independently provide genetic counseling and referral services for patients of all age groups who have or are at risk for genetic conditions or birth defects. The Assistant Director works closely with the Genetic Counseling Physician Director and Section Administrator to grow and strengthen the genetic counseling services provided within departments of the Emory Clinic, EUH, Emory University Academics, and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. This role serves as strong liaison between patients and clinic operations as well as within specialty care. You will directly supervise clinic/program staff including other Genetic Counselors across the assigned entities, oversight of clinic/program operations, and oversight of clinic/program budgets and financial performance. The Assistant Director plays a role in the 5-semester internship that allows the student in-depth exploration of a specialty area within the settings of public health genomics, clinical genetics practice and research, and laboratory genetic services.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from an ABGC accredited training program.
  • Board certification as a Genetic Counselor by the American Board of Genetic Counseling.
  • Ten years of experience as a genetic counselor with 5 years previous genetic counseling supervisory experience.
