Stoneridge, Inc. seeks Advanced Supplier Development Group Manager in Novi, MI.
Duties: Manage the regional Supplier Development Group. This will involve the following: Develop supplier development strategies and improvement plans using available supplier performance data, as well as current and future business requirements that create significant functional and measurable differences. Define performance metrics for evaluation of supply chain factors including product cost and quality. Establish and negotiate supplier quality agreements. Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers. Review supplier manufacturing processes and collaborate with suppliers on process improvement and value enhancement opportunities to ensure product quality and the absence of defects. Create supplier audit plans and manage supplier assessments and supplier actions plans. Diagnose process strengths and weaknesses to ensure product quality and the absence of defects. Support strategic supply decisions including risk analyses, sourcing councils, Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, and Threat (SWOT) situational assessments, project planning, and gap analyses. Interact and communicate effectively with internal and external customers and stakeholders. Collaborate with and support the Engineering team, Category Managers, and suppliers in support of new supplier launches. Confer with engineers to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information. Monitor suppliers’ activities to assess performance in meeting quality requirements. Analyze information about supplier performance. Drive continuous improvement within the overall supply base and with any single supplier or commodity. Develop and implement procedures and systems to evaluate and select suppliers. Work in category core teams with other procurement sub- functions, including Category Managers, Strategic Sourcing Managers, and Program Procurement Managers, and partner with other cross functional departments including Engineering, Program Management, and Manufacturing. Monitor and communicate supplier performance results, manage the supplier corrective action process internally and externally, and support supplier component reviews and new component launches including Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Safe Launch Programs. Improve regional Supplier Development team members’ technical knowledge in the Plastics commodities. Function as Department Process Owner by supporting the development and execution of Supplier Development processes as they relate to Supply Quality and ensuring roll- out to the broader organization. Processes owned will include: incoming inspection process; supplier chain process; and line management which includes responsibility for the
supplier quality performance development of the entire supplier base to the regional Stoneridge Electronics. Lead the team through the core processes of Supplier Selection, Supplier Management, and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP). Develop processes and tools. Track and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the department. Manage team including personnel responsibility over daily issues and personnel development. Support the Design and Development department in supplier quality related issues both internally within the company and externally with suppliers. Manage budget for supplying tool replacement and repairs.
Requires a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field plus 5 years of experience in an Engineering Program Management position within the automotive industry for an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) or a Tier 1 supplier. Requires 4 years of experience with the following: Commodity specific quality requirements and supplier production process; As a Lead auditor in the automotive industry or VDA lead auditor certification; Using the IATF 16949 quality system and ISO19011 guidelines for auditing management systems.
