Job Summary

We’re looking for a strategic and technically excellent leader to drive data science initiatives across Porch Insurance. This role is central to advancing our competitive edge in pricing, risk modeling, and customer retention using Porch’s proprietary property data. As a key member of our data and analytics leadership team, you’ll guide a high-performing group of data scientists and ML engineers, collaborating cross-functionally to deliver insights that materially improve business outcomes. What You Will Do As A Head of Data Science and Analytics

• Define, execute, and lead Porch Insurance’s data science strategy to drive premium growth, retention, and shareholder value

• Build and manage a high-performing team of data scientists, machine learning engineers, and analysts

• Design and implement predictive models, experiments, dashboards, and reports to support key business decisions

• Partner with senior executives, actuaries, product, and engineering to align on priorities and integrate insights across the organization

• Optimize data fidelity, accessibility, and usage across systems to improve modeling and operational outcomes

• Lead the technical roadmap and manage data science budgets, timelines, KPIs, and performance metrics

What You Will Bring As A Head of Data Science and Analytics

• 12+ years of industry experience in data science, applied statistics, machine learning, or econometrics (or 15+ including academia)

• Demonstrated success leading and mentoring high-impact analytics teams

• Advanced skills in statistical modeling, experimentation (A/B testing), and AI/ML techniques

• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across technical and non-technical audiences

• Hands-on experience deploying models from development through production in a modern data science stack

• Strong problem-solving mindset with intellectual curiosity and optimism

• Preferred: PhD in a quantitative field and 5+ years of experience in homeowners insurance
