About the Position: 

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) is committed in educating students to be culturally, globally, socially, historically, and environmentally astute, civically responsible alumni able to navigate an increasingly complex and interconnected world. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Marketing Communications Strategist (Marketing Communications Professional III). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to inclusivity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

The Marketing and Communications Strategist for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) serves as the college’s lead storyteller, content strategist, and communications liaison. The position is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive marketing and communication plans that promote the college’s programs, people, and priorities across web, digital, and print platforms. Working closely with the Dean, Associate Deans, Social Media Analyst, Department chairs, and Strategic Communications, the Marketing and Communications Strategist researches, writes, and publishes feature stories, press releases, and news items; oversees and maintains the college website; works with Social Media Analyst and Media Production Specialist to help maintain social media presence. Develops creative materials that advance the college’s mission and enhance its visibility. Ensures that all marketing materials and communication strategies align with CSU and CSUF brand standards, accessibility (ATI) compliance, and the college’s strategic goals. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of relevant experience. Additional experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Works independently under general supervision, performs advanced work by exercising significant authority for most marketing and communications projects and responsibilities. Projects involve the execution of public affairs, media relations, publications, and marketing programs. The work is more complex, broader in scope and has significant impact on the success of the project or program. Applies professional knowledge or expertise in one or more specialt
