Sr. Director, Business Technology

Summary

The Senior Director of Product leads the planning and rollout of assigned products through ownership of product concepts, roadmaps, and prioritization with delivery teams. Manages/Mentors Product Managers, and as needed navigates a dynamic and distributed stakeholder and development environment to build and maintain a prioritized roadmap. Owns product playbooks and assists in the creations of release plans. Champions and supports the business and product development team by identifying the most valuable ROI to the business through prioritization, reducing churn, waste, removing blockers, escalating issues and offering ideas with technical product guidance as needed. 

The role is responsible for maximizing the value of the product and working directly with the business by clearly expressing the product strategy and identifying further opportunities for the business by: Identifying value, collaborating with their direct team, and the business on the “What & Why” we should solve the issue. Additionally helping the business to simplify complex issues into a simple opportunity or problem statement to be solved under a clearly defined strategy. 

This role is a new addition to a growing team. They will be responsible for legacy boarding and servicing products as well as the ongoing project to replace legacy technology with new products. The new products are in various stages of development and will require the leader to ensure timely delivery, end user acceptance, as well as alignment with other projects and strategic initiatives. 


 

Responsibilities

Drive Value Delivery (25%)

  • Product Vision and Strategy: Develop and articulate a clear product vision and strategy aligned with business objectives.

  • Roadmap Planning: Collaborate with stakeholders to create and communicate a product roadmap that outlines prioritized features, enhancements, and initiatives.

  • Feature Definition and Prioritization: Work closely with cross-functional teams to define and refine product features, prioritizing based on business value and customer feedback.

  • Agile Execution: Embrace the SAFe methodology and participate in Agile ceremonies, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality features.

  • Stakeholder Management: Engage with customers, executives, and internal teams to gather requirements, validate decisions, and manage expectations.

  • Market and Competitive Analysis: Conduct research, competitive analysis, and customer interviews to understand user needs and identify market trends.

  • User Experience (UX) Design: Collaborate with UX designers to ensure an intuitive and user-friendly product experience.

  • Business Value Measurement: Define KPIs and metrics to measure the success and business value of the product.

  • Release Management: Collaborate with the release management team to plan and coordinate product releases.

  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement, seeking feedback and identifying opportunities to enhance product processes and practices.

User Representative (20%)

  • Acts as the voice of the customer for the business at large.

  • Provides knowledge concerning the relevant customers, their needs, and their pain points. 

  • Gathers feedback from customers from multiple iterations of the product to continually improve and drive value. This responsibility is accomplished through a host of different mechanisms including, but not limited to: customer surveys, customer calls, customer visits, focus groups, and usability testing. 

  • Creates, maintains and communicates the product playbook and strategy.

Stakeholder Representative (20%)

  • Builds productive working relationships with internal and external (if needed) stakeholders to encourage collaboration and open communication.

  • Acts as the voice of the business for the Scrum team. 

  • Is responsible for clearly communicating the business expectations and justifications (the “why”) for any given feature to the assigned engineering team.
