Your future role
This is a varied role and the successful applicant will be able to work under their own initiative as well as working as part of a team. The remit of this challenging role is to carry out routine maintenance; repair and fault-finding work on rail vehicles, plant, lifting and handling equipment, buildings and facilities as required.
We’ll look to you for:
- Routine rail vehicle maintenance as per the Vehicle Maintenance Instruction (VMI)
- Operation of powered equipment, lifting and mechanical handling equipment
- Assist Technicians as required
- Act as Person in Charge of Moves (PICOM)
- On site rail vehicle driving
- Where trained and competent move Class 22X, 180 and 185 vehicles around the Crofton Depot site.
- Maintenance of plant.
- Compliance with all laid down H&S legislation and depot procedures to ensure a safe accident free environment.
- Responsible for keeping the work area clean and tidy and to the highest standard at all times.

- Ideally City & Guilds qualified, candidates must be mechanically and electrically proficient with a basic understanding of the vehicles and plant being maintained.
- Fully literate and numerate, and preferably computer literate.
- Detailed understanding of Class 180 and Class 22X vehi
