Role overview:
Family Services Coordinators partner with hospital staff and legal decision makers to maximize opportunities for organ and tissue donation. This role centers on guiding donation conversations, assessing readiness, and facilitating informed decision-making throughout the donation process.
Coordinators engage with legal decision makers during highly emotional and complex situations, requiring resilience, empathy, and the ability to remain composed and professional. Through clear, compassionate, and purposeful communication, this role is focused on influencing authorization for donation by connecting decisions to meaningful impact for recipients and donor legacy.
Successful candidates will possess the following:

- Proven ability to navigate emotionally heightened situations with professionalism and composure
- Ability to approach conversations with cultural humility, respecting diverse beliefs about death, dying, and donation
- Ensure timely, precise documentation and charting to support regulatory compliance and safeguard patient safety.
- Effective collaboration with hospital staff, physicians, and interdisciplinary care teams in high-pressure environments Demonstrated ability to communicate complex and sensitive information with clarity, empathy, and professionalism
- Must be an advocate for organ, tissue and eye donation
Responsibility snapshot:
- Maintain a consistent onsite presence with hospital partners to collaboratively assess readiness for potential donation conversations with legal decision makers, while completing follow-up on notifications and documenting key findings to support coordinated care and communication.
- Assesses Legal Decision Makers understanding of the physician’s statements about their loved ones grave prognosis/non-survivable status
- Positively influence donation decisions by engaging families in meaningful discussions that emphasize legacy, purpose, and the life-saving impact donation has on those in need.
- Facilitate confidential Donor Risk Assessment Interviews (DRAIs) with legal decision makers after authorization to obtain a thorough medical and social history, ensuring recipient safety and maximizing donation outcomes.
-Document all findings in alignment with established protocols.
-Provide post-donation follow-up to families, sharing recovery outcomes and gathering feedback, with all communication documented accurately and timely.
- Partner with hospital development teams to maintain strong relationships with hospital partners.
- Confidently interpret and communicate hospital performance data, using insights to collaborate with donation program coordination teams on process improvements that strengthen partnerships and optimize donation outcomes.
- Actively contribute and participate in the development and improvement of department policies, processes, and procedures.

Requirements:
- Ability to work in unpredictable, on-call, and time-sensitive environments, often during nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to flex between working remotely, in our corporate office, and in multiple hospitals
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation as Regional Travel is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field, or equivalent work experience in an applicable field (clinical chaplaincy, EMS, Case Management, Funeral Services, hospice etc)
