The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.

Your Responsibilities

 

As a Part-Time Student-Cloud Software Engineer for John Deere located in Ames, Iowa, you will perform software development for the John Deere AWS Cloud Platform. In addition, you will...

 

• Implement solutions to improve cost, quality, and performance of software applications
• Develop recommendations within established guidelines; work and decisions are reviewed by technical leads before implementation
• Collaborate with other relevant stakeholders and team members to collect requirements, and describe software product features and technical designs
• Follow industry-standard Agile software design methodology for development and documentation
• Develop code and use the AWS console to implement solutions alongside team members

 

This position is not available to students on immigration visas.

 

What Skills You Need

 

• Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering; others may apply
• Must be registered as a full-time student at Iowa State University
• Graduation date of May 2025 or later
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
• Able to work 15-20 hours/week during the academic year
• Able to work 35-40 hours/week during the summer semester and school breaks
• Must be able to commute to the work location in Ames, Iowa, as agreed upon with the manager year-round (NOTE: Relocation assistance is not provided.)
• Remote work available as agreed upon with the manager

 

What Makes You Stand Out

 

• High level of attention to detail
• Experience with JavaScript, Java, and/or Python
• Experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• AWS Cloud Practitioner level certification or higher
