We are seeking a professional like you with educational and experience in a Mechanical Maintenance discipline for the BASF, Wyandotte, MI Thermoplastics plant.  BASF’s Performance Materials business responds quickly to customer needs, without cutting corners to sacrifice safety or quality.  The business services a wide range of customers, in many different markets, from footwear, cabling, hose applications, automotive, etc.  The maintenance technicians within the TPU Plant must adapt to change safely, quickly, and efficiently while maintaining the highest quality requirements.   The Mechanical Maintenance technician supports and repairs the equipment that manufactures thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) to meet our customer needs.  

As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, You Create Chemistry By...

•    Working with and on Mechanical equipment such Gear boxes, Drive couplings, Agitators, Pumps, Mechanical seals, Rigging, Welding, and pipe fabrication. 
•    Installing, maintaining, and optimizing site equipment to provide a safe operation with maximum production availability, including Silos, extruders, storage tanks, conveyor belts and other machinery. 
•    Making recommendations to improve existing processes to improve safety, effectiveness, and efficiency. 
•    Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and solving mechanical issues on stationary and rotational equipment. 
•    Reading, comprehending, and executing tasks and concepts found in technical operating and maintenance manuals, and other written documents.
•    24 hour / 365 day on-call support for production demands. Willingness to work overtime, on-call, after hours and weekends when needed.
•    Working with maintenance supervision, other technicians, engineers, and production personnel to design plant equipment and modifications. 
•    Improving equipment reliability by maintaining, analyzing, troubleshooting, and utilizing all resources available. Findings reported to supervision with appropriate recommendations.
•    Working in a safe manner and adheres to all safety regulations as well as demonstrating a team-oriented behavior in daily tasks.

If you have...

 

•    High School diploma / GED or minimum 5 years of experience troubleshooting components including pumps, agitators, extruders, and conveyor belts.
•    Technical School Degree and a professional certificate
•    Certifications in welding, or other related trade.
