About the role

The job is to support Underwriting Producer in any way that is required in the quoting and binding of any accounts worked on by Southwest Risk Agency Services.

Finding solutions to issues on your own initiative or, as appropriate, seeking assistance.

Responsibilities: 

  • Quoting
    • Clearing, underwriting, rating and/or submitting binding or brokerage New Business
    • Underwriting, rating and/or submitting binding or brokerage renewals
  • Binders – new and renewal as needed
  • Underwriting Documentation
    • Uploading necessary underwriting documents to carrier systems for submitted risks
    • Documenting files as outlined by specific carriers or SWRAS leadership
  • Endorsements
    • Approving and/or underwriting endorsements that fall outside the scope or ability of the service team
  • DNOC, Reinstatements and Non-renewals
    • Advising the service team as necessary to send out DNOC’s or non-renewals in accordance with state statutes              
  • Retail Agent Phone Calls
    • Coverage Questions on existing policies
    • Discuss market capabilities as well as specifics on New and renewal Business
  • Carrier Phone Calls
    • Call and Discuss Coverage Questions with Company Underwriters
    • Discuss new and renewal submissions with carriers as required
  • Loss Runs -Renewals
    • Retrieve loss runs from carriers’ websites or request from carrier
      • Forward to our agent of record or insured
  • Coverage / Procedure Questions
    • Review Policy and advise agent if coverage is included on our policies
    • Explain how certain situations are handled to agents
    • Explain how certain situations are handled to underwriters / brokers
  • Renewals
    • Meeting with lead underwriters on their accounts at least monthly to discuss renewal marketing plan, changes in guidelines etc.
    • Quote binding accounts a minimum of 30 days out from expiration
    • Reviewing and requesting renewal information on accounts a minimum of 60 days prior to expiration
  • Documenting Files
  • Backup underwriters or team members as necessary should they be out on PTO, agency visits or as requested by SWRAS leadership.

Requirements: 

  • 3-5 years’ experience in E&S binding, production underwriting, wholesale brokerage or affiliated company/job
  • Experience with task types such as processing binders, endorsements, invoices
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized with good time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and switch between various items as needed
  • Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • A good, positive, energetic, attitude towards customers, markets & fellow employees
