General Description of the Position: 

The Physical Therapy Assistant position is a direct service position at Project Play Therapy whose focus is to facilitate quality service delivery for our school partnerships under the direction of a staff Physical Therapist.  The ideal candidate will serve as a primary physical therapy services provider for our partner schools. The candidate must be motivated to grow with a young, vibrant company, and be energized by ongoing collaboration and the endless pursuit of excellent service with our school partners. A Physical Therapy Assistant is responsible for assisting in developing skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students, including gross motor, transportation, and classroom accommodations. In order to respond to the individual needs and abilities of students, the Physical Therapy Assistant must work closely with the staff and administration of the corresponding school. This position reports directly to the coordinator of Physical Therapy.

 

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

Customer Service:

• Develop and strengthen relationships with our schools (Private & Charter Schools) to establish rapport and trust among all stakeholders
• Establish and maintain cohesive communication and excellent service delivery during direct therapy
• Adapt communication style to meet the needs of each partner school, PPT employees, and other stakeholders
• Demonstrate best practices, inclusion, problem-solving, and proactive communication
• Work within a team environment that values communication, accountability and collaboration
• Foster good-will with current contract customers, in order to ensure client satisfaction 
• PTA is responsible for providing culturally sensitive and ethical services as outlined in the APTA code of ethics

 

Operations:

• Effectively perform and document treatment based on the short and long term goals established by evaluating physical therapist
• Demonstrate proficiency in various treatment techniques including neurodevelopmental, orthopedic and therapeutic exercise approaches, using equipment and resources available within the schools
• Adjust daily treatment plan based on assessment of patient’s response to treatment. Consults physical therapist as needed
• Provide physical therapist with adequate feedback on assigned patients (either verbal or written) to maximize patient outcomes and provide safe handoff
• Collaborate with team to collect data and produce reports to show impact of services and achievement of outcomes
• Collaborate with all coworkers to increase shared organizational outcomes and successes
• Responsible for all documentation surrounding service delivery through fusion and Easy IEP
• Execute the vision and direction as set by the President / CEO, including special projects, as assigned

 

Candidate Qualifications:

• Graduate of an APTA approved program for physical therapy assistants
• Licensed to practice as a physical therapy assistant in the state of Tennessee
• Ability to problem solve effectively and expediently to meet and surpass the needs of the partner schools
• Ability to provide service in a way that promotes a culture of community, excellence, and efficiency
• Experience with school aged population is preferred
• Must be comfortable working with students having a variety of disorders
• Evidence of good written and oral language skills and strong organizational skills
• Able to work both independently and in a team environment
• Explore and identify opportunities to expand the scope of available resources
