Our team is responsible for development & validation work to assure our products are industry leaders in Vehicle Dynamics customer experience. The Vehicle Dynamics team is responsible for the steering, handling, braking and stability control performance of our vehicles, including testing, diagnosing root causes, and solution development. We are looking for a Vehicle Dynamics Test Engineer with a particular focus on Braking performance expertise, including safety, compliance, and customer experience requirements. Success will require integrating and troubleshooting highly complex truck and test measurement systems, and bridging across mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines. Fundamental aspects of this job include employing specialized knowledge and sophisticated analytical thought to solve highly complex problems and identify innovative solutions, as well as setting standards that impact a large portion of the DTNA engineering organization and driving their work. Position offers a starting salary range of $117,000.00 - $150,000.00 USD
Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience

What You Drive at DTNA
- Lead braking testing, including driving and subjective evaluation, as well as objective measurements. A fundamental aspect of this job is integrating and troubleshooting highly complex truck and test measurement systems, bridging across mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines. Support steering & handling testing.
- Develop new test methods, including integrating new sensors and mechanical and electronic measurement hardware with our truck and truck measurement systems. Develop software scripts for data automation and streamlining.
- Develop specifications, test cases and processes to increase objectivity to customer-perceived braking performance as well as to increase confidence of compliance. Develop methods to diagnose root causes of underperforming behavior.
- Plan, organize, and lead and execute testing, including structured complex problem solving (involving both mechanical and electronic systems) to quantify and diagnose root causes and develop solutions.
- Influence through transparent communication across organization, including design engineering, quality, product strategy, compliance, and legal. Braking is influenced by a wide cross-section of vehicle modules, so an effective Dynamics engineer must be a leader that can influence across the organization. Knowledge and influence must span across powertrain, chassis, and mechatronics.
- Uphold a team focus with willingness to help and support the NVH & Dynamics team beyond areas of direct responsibility.
- Teach test methods to test support personnel, who may come from within, and from outside the team during workload peaks. Mentor and marshal diverse resources and skills towards achieving overall test objectives.
- Position will require some travel throughout the year and at times this can occur with limited notice, especially for testing at Madras track and locally.
Knowledge You Should Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering incorporating the principles of Mechanical Systems (Mechanical Engineering, or similar) and 5-7 years of experience is required.
- Five years of vehicle testing experience, including expertise in CAN-based measurement systems. Experience integrating instrumentation and measurement systems with vehicle software and control systems.
- Three years of vehicle dynamics experience, especially related to braking performance.
- Expertise in brake-related regulations, esp. FMVSS121, FMVSS136, FMVSS105, and ADR35.
