Business Purpose of Role:

The role of Shopper Based Design Manager is a critical leadership role in P&G’s North America Personal Care business. This individual leads the shopper insights, design, and selling of “Shopper Based Design”, also known as Shelf Planogram, Shopper Marketing, and Omnichannel retail design for all US retailers.  The Personal Care Category (Deodorant, Body Wash, Soap, Lotion) is incredibly dynamic with P&G experiencing our strongest results in over a decade! It is a great time to join our Market Strategy & Planning team from our global headquarters in Cincinnati, OH. 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead in-store shelf and online concept design, strategy, and sell-in for P&G’s North America Personal Care business, including brands such as Old Spice, Native, Olay, and Ivory across all US retailers (Mass, Drug, Food, Discount and online)

  • Lead the strategy & design thinking for future shelf orchestrations & planogram layouts to enhance brand architecture and product innovation for the Soap, Body wash, Body lotion, and Hand Soap categories

  • Deliver competitive advantage by driving retailer category Sales and Profit growth with Shelf and Merchandising as the key building block, selling and consulting with retail buyers including Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, Family Dollar, Target, Kroger, and many others

  • Lead the development of shelf principles, sales materials and innovative selling techniques to influence retailer partnerships and execution

  • Opportunities to frequently present to P&G’s Global President, and North America Brand, Sales, and Design VPs and Directors

  • High collaboration with a core team of multifunctional business leaders, and a broader team comprised of +15 Sales leaders across the United States and +15 Brand and Design partners.

  • Collaborate with Analytics & Insights teams on Shelf Data to study and make insightful data-based recommendations to drive business growth

  • Develop a deep understanding of shopper psychology and behavior through Shopper Research to generate meaningful new ideas

  • Partner and sell to retailer Merchants and Buyers through Category Management, including all US channels of trade: Food, Mass, Discount, and Drug, and eCommerce.  

Job Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, any major

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in CPG Sales or retail, desired experience as Sales Account Executive/Director or Category Management Account Executive for a top 15 US retailer

  • Experience in Go to Market Strategy

  • Demonstrated ability of critical thinking and problem solving

  • Strong leadership skills, multifunctional team leadership & collaboration

  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and selling skills

  • Project Management

  • Technical aptitude (advanced Excel, Power BI, Microsoft suite)

  • Organizational Management

  • Analytics, understanding data insights and selling with data visualization

  • A valid driver's license and willingness to travel on the job
