About the role

The Rates Finance Desk Salesperson, VP, holds a senior-level position primarily responsible for assisting clients in capital market fundraising and providing strategic advisory services for financial transactions (mergers, acquisitions) in coordination with the Institutional Banking team. This role also involves acting as an intermediary in client trading. The main objective is to serve as a strategic advisor to clients, formulating investment strategies, and raising capital, with a strong focus on specific cash and rates products.

Responsibilities:

  • Sales & Marketing Strategy: Refining and implementing sales/marketing strategies to enhance Citi's client footprint and maximize revenue.

  • Market Planning: Collaborating with management to establish clear marketing plans, priorities, market penetration, and revenue goals.

  • Client Engagement & Product Sales: Leveraging contact network to understand client needs, introduce the Citi offering, and convince clients to adopt it to increase client satisfaction/Citi revenue, with a particular emphasis on selling front-end cash products such as agency discount notes, cash bills, and front-end rates products.

  • Transaction Advisory: Advising teams on strategic positioning and closing transactions, coordinating with various internal stakeholders (structuring, trading, legal, credit, risk, etc.).

  • Relationship Building: Forging relationships with other salespeople to leverage Citi's franchise and source relevant buying and selling opportunities.

  • Governance & Control: Leading strong governance and controls, working closely with control functions (Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, Finance) to ensure appropriate infrastructure.

  • Ethical Conduct: Building a culture of responsible finance, good governance, supervision, expense discipline, and ethics.

  • Risk Management: Appropriately assessing risk/reward in business decisions, considering the firm's reputation, and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets by complying with laws, policies, and ethical judgment.

  • Compliance: Adhering to Citi's Code of Conduct, the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services, all defined policies and procedures, and obtaining/maintaining required registrations/licenses.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5-10 years of relevant experience.

  • Client-Facing Sales: Experience in a client-facing role working with the buy-side community and sales experience at a financial services organization.

  • Product Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in market funds, cash providers, and selling front-end cash products (including agency discount notes, cash bills, front-end rates products is key). Essential experience includes Mortgage repo, tri-party repo, US treasury bills, short coupons, and agency discount notes. Front-end rates experience is critical.

  • Skills: Proven interpersonal and problem-solving skills, consistently demonstrating clear and concise written and verbal communication.

  • Networking: Broad client relationships preferred.

  • Commercial Paper: Experience with commercial paper (preferred).

  • Licensing: Must have or be able to obtain required licenses including Series 3, 7, 55 and 63.

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience.

  • Preferred: Master's degree in business or a related field.
