When you join New York Life, you’re joining a company that values development, career growth, collaboration, innovation, and diversity & inclusion. We want employees to feel proud about being part of a company that is committed to doing the right thing. Through various resources and programs, you can grow your career while developing personally and professionally.

New York Life’s primary distribution channel is the career Agency sales force of more than 12,000 agents and advisors, operating in virtually every major city in the United States.  Every agent/advisor is affiliated with one of our General Offices. These offices are operated by Agency management teams responsible for agent and management recruiting, development, and sales.  Approximately half our agents/advisors operate their businesses out of our General Offices, while the other half maintains independent office locations.

Our General Offices are divided up among four Zones. In addition to our Zone offices, an Agency Home Office team responsible for strategy, finance, administration, standards, training, marketing, and communications supports our agents and field managers. The Agency operation also comprises teams charged with growing our business in key market segments, including the middle-income market and the advanced (high-net-worth) market.

Role Overview:

The primary function of this role is to manage all aspects of the Agents Advisory Council (AAC) with complete autonomy and to provide extensive support for the Advisory Board of Directors (ABD).  This role will require extensive collaboration across the Foundational Business, Executive Management and field leaders engaging in strategic dialogue, practicing critical thinking and making independent decisions on a daily basis that have a meaningful impact.

  • Manage the day-to-day activities, logistics, suggestion management, meetings (virtual and in person) and Council activities of the Field Advisory Groups, particularly the Agents Advisory Council (AAC) and Advisory Board of Directors ( ABD)
  • Oversees the AAC suggestion process, which includes the management of over 1,000 suggestions submitted by agents each year. This involves tracking each suggestion through a newly implemented and streamlined database, determining the appropriate business area for review, and ensuring the accuracy and detail of responses before discussing them with the relevant Agent committee for final approval. Utilize the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) for deploying new initiatives and continuous release trains.
  • Aggregates and analyzes suggestion data. Socializes findings to both Executive Management and the field through various channels to keep vested parties and stakeholders aware of key outcomes of the Advisory Groups.
  • Identifies process improvements to ensure adoption and agility of the database. Solutions with Technology partners to buildout additional enhancements to functionality.
  • Independently facilitates monthly virtual sessions with senior leaders and our field force.
  • Plans and partners with various teams to execute the AAC and ABD meetings and initiatives. Assists in the facilitation of the MPAC and DMAC meetings as needed.
  • Conceptualizes and develops the strategic agendas for AAC and ABD in person meetings (3) and plays a key role in the decision-making process regarding the topics that will be discussed during the sessions.
  • Creates resource documents to be shared with Executive Management, ensuring strategic and productive discussions. This involves leveraging relationships with Home Office business partners to determine which information should be highlighted in advance of Advisory Group meetings.
  • Manages AAC elections, which can include onsite support at Council, creating collateral and election material, development/coding of voting platform (if virtual), oversight of the election process, recruitment outreach and ensures candidates met qualification requirements.
  • Trains and onboards new AAC and ABD members to get them acclimated to their new roles and responsibilities.
  • Manages the content of our AAC and ABD microsites on the field intranet. This includes but is not limited to determining content accuracy
