About the role

The Radiation Oncology RN provides specialized nursing care to cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy, serving as a key resource throughout treatment. They assess patients' physical and emotional well-being, educate patients and families about treatment and potential side effects, monitor and manage symptoms such as fatigue, skin irritation, pain, and nausea, administer supportive medications when needed, and coordinate care with radiation oncologists and other members of the healthcare team. Radiation Oncology RNs also offer emotional support, help patients navigate their treatment journey, and play a critical role in ensuring safe, effective, and compassionate cancer care.

 

Schedule:

  • Casual
  • Monday - Friday | Day shift from 7am-4:30pm

 

Pay and Benefits:

  • Starting pay begins at $42.86 per hour; exact wage determined by years of related experience
    • Pay range: $42.86 - $71.51 per hour

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from a nursing program required. A minimum of a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing must be obtained within three years.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Minnesota required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider Card required per established policy 
  • A minimum of 1 year acute care experience preferred
  • Ambulatory or Oncology nursing experience preferred, including telephone triage and symptom management.
  • National Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN) preferred.
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively intervene with a patient in crisis, recognize abnormal lab results and other diagnostic testing results, skills with patient education.
