Job Description Summary

Nationwide is seeking a forward-thinking veterinarian to lead the development and execution of targeted pet health programs. These programs are designed to improve health outcomes, deliver measurable business value, and most importantly, educate and empower pet families to make informed decisions about their pets' care.

The Sr. Veterinarian, Pet Health will bring clinical expertise, a working knowledge of spectrum of care, strategic thinking, and strong program management skills to drive cross-functional initiatives that enhance customer journeys for both healthy and sick pets. This role will also serve as a key contributor to medical marketing review and strategic animal health partnerships.

In a permanently remote environment, you’ll collaborate with a highly engaged team to develop and manage pet healthcare programs that help more pets receive the care they need. A successful candidate will creatively bring strategic initiatives to life through innovative, digitally delivered programs that resonate with pet families and support Nationwide’s mission to protect what matters most.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Analyze pet healthcare trends and Nationwide claims data to inform strategic decisions, improve business outcomes, and activate innovation in pet health programs.

  • Design, lead and scale digital educational and marketing programs that guide pet families through preventive care and disease management across the pet lifecycle.

  • Leverages data insights and member feedback to continuously refine programs, ensuring alignment with both pet family needs and business objectives.

  • Lead the operational execution of multi-faceted initiatives by prioritizing resources, managing timelines, and identifying, tracking, and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • Maximize the implementation and impact of key partnerships within programs, collaborating with veterinary and animal health partners, driving measurable value for protected pets and pet families, and Nationwide business outcomes.

  • Serves as a pet health expert both internally and externally, including cross-functional internal initiatives, marketing campaigns, veterinary conference presentations, communications, and public relations campaigns.

  • Oversee medical marketing review to ensure all pet health content is clinically accurate and aligned with Nationwide’s brand and strategic goals.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned. 

Reporting Relationships:  Reports to Sr Director, Pet Health

Typical Skills and Experiences: 

Education: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent.

License/Certification/Designation: Maintain a veterinary practice license in minimum of one state and fulfills ongoing professional continuing education requirements in that state.

Experience:  3–5 years of clinical experience in veterinary medicine, with demonstrated ability to apply medical knowledge in strategic or programmatic contexts. 1–3 years of experience designing, implementing, or scaling digital education or business programs, ideally with measurable impact on customer engagement or busines
