The Elders Cook on-call will function under the direct supervision of the Elders Program Manager and in cooperation with Tribal staff. The Elder Cook on call will perform skilled cooking duties and food.
Duties Include:
- Prepare and cook food for the elders lunch program and ensure meals adhere to USDA required nutritional standards.
- Delivers to elder's residences of the S'Klallam community when necessary
- Plans cycle menus with Tribal nutritionist;
- Participates in large-scale preparation and service of food;
- Prepares main entrees as directed; anticipates and performs preliminary preparation necessary for next day's meals;
- Prepares meals according to standard recipes, menus, or verbal instructions;
- Inspects food being prepared to ensure proper quantity, quality, and handling;
- Operates cooking and kitchen equipment; for example, operates mixers, ovens, choppers, shredders, steamers, grills, grinders, steam kettles, fry kettles, and other food equipment;
- Assists in preparing menus and determining amount of food to meet menu requirements; keeps records; makes reports; plans meals, adjusts recipes to volume of demand;
- Will accommodate special staff meetings, as well as food prep for elder population
- Other duties as assigned and appropriate for this position.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Education or Completion of GED required.
- Experience: Two years experience working with older adults. Experience in large scale meal preparation.
- License: Valid Washington State Drivers License
- Background Check: Able to pass a criminal background finger print check and drug screen.
Requirements:
- Basic personal computer skills are required, as well as the ability to learn word-processing, spreadsheet and other software programs.
- Filing, typing, and record keeping as needed
- Frequently required to walk, sit and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to stand and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Travel Requirements:
- Local travel required, Statewide and out of state travel may be required.
