Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking an experienced Senior NEPA Compliance Project Manager to join our Environmental Planning Group.  In this role you’ll have the opportunity to join our interdisciplinary team to manage projects related to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance, state-level equivalent reviews, and environmental permitting. Your ability to manage NEPA projects; oversee staff; perform quality assurance and control; communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders; and write technical assessments related to NEPA compliance is critical.

This is a fully remote position; and is a 32 hour a week, benefits eligible, full-time role.  

The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical expertise in the social, environmental, or physical sciences and experience in contributing to complex environmental studies for land use planning and environmental management. This position requires excellent communication, technical, and writing skills; attention to detail; and the ability to work independently and as a part of an interdisciplinary team. Opportunities for growth include development of client relationships, marketing and business development, and leading interdisciplinary teams on a multitude of projects.

Other responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

• Leads and manages complex planning studies, development applications and reviews.
• Reviews and processes complex comprehensive plan amendments, rezoning, annexations, site plans and plats.
• Conducts research and prepares statistical reports on land use, physical, social and economic issues.
• Provides professional planning assistance to member communities on varied land use and transportation projects.
• Develop plans, studies and analyses on regional basis.
• Works in regional program areas relating to natural/water resources planning, community development, hazard mitigation, coastal zone management, and others.
• Performs field inspections to gather data relevant to the development review process and/or to verify that development projects comply with approved plans.
• Conducts meetings and presents reports and other findings to staff with advisory boards and elected officials.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental policy, planning, economics, or a related field.
• 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education with relevant NEPA compliance and environmental permitting experience.   

Preferred Qualifications:

• 10+ years of relevant experience with NEPA compliance, environmental permitting, technical report writing, and project management.
• Knowledge of federal environmental laws and their implementing regulations, including, but not limited to: National Environmental Policy Act, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Endangered Species Act,
