Job Description:
As a Technical Writing & eLearning Development Intern, you will contribute to two key areas: creating comprehensive machine manuals across multiple product lines and developing customer-facing eLearning content. This position offers direct mentorship from experienced technical writers and exposure to various equipment documentation projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
Documentation Development
- Assist in creating and updating machine manuals for multiple product lines
- Learn to document technical procedures, specifications, and safety information
- Help organize and structure documentation for different equipment types
- Support the standardization of documentation across product lines
eLearning Development
- Create interactive training modules based on machine documentation
- Convert technical content into engaging learning materials using PowerPoint
- Transform legacy training videos into modern eLearning formats
- Develop visual aids and instructional materials
General Duties
- Help capture digital photos and videos of machine operations
- Support documentation processing and organization
- Participate in peer reviews to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Learn to use content management systems
- Assist with documentation package preparation and delivery
Required Qualifications
- Current enrollment in Technical Writing, Communications, Digital Media, Engineering, or related field
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Office Suite
- Basic understanding of technical documentation principles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities
- Ability to follow established templates and style guides
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, or controls concepts
- Familiarity with content management systems
- Previous exposure to manufacturing or industrial environments
- Understanding of instructional design principles
