Purpose

The Assistant Director of Dallas/Fort Worth & Houston MBA Student Affairs will play a vital role in supporting the academic, personal, and professional development of MBA students. This position will oversee key aspects of the Dallas/Fort Worth & Houston MBA student experience, including academic immersions, student organizations, and co-curricular programming. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in student affairs, a demonstrated commitment to student success, and the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily operations and activities of the Dallas/Fort Worth & Houston MBA programs, ensuring compliance with university, state, and federal policies and regulations. Oversee logistical and technical coordination of class weekend management, including advising on-site coordinators and trouble-shooting concerns, ensuring smooth execution of the academic programs.
  • Recruit, manage, train, and evaluate assigned staff by providing guidance and direction to reach strategic and operational goals and objectives. Conducts performance evaluations and sets performance expectations. Participates in professional development for self and advocates and supports professional development for unit staff.
  • Provide professional coordination in the execution of day-to-day academic programs’ activities, as appropriate to program objectives. Manages relationship with internal stakeholders, including faculty, admissions, marketing, Career Management, and McCombs, to ensure successful delivery of academic and co-curricular curricula. Oversee external vendor management, including catering, lodging, and event venue partners.
  • Manage WPMBA event management, including new student onboarding, orientation, immersive/residential seminars and workshops, events, and graduation. Establishes goals, objectives, and measurable outcomes for activities in coordination with program leadership. Collaborates with cross-program staff for strategic alignment.
  • Manage unit budget(s) in collaboration with the Working Professional MBA Managing Director. Responsible for monitoring and adhering to individual and portfolio level program budgets.
  • Establish and evaluate feedback mechanisms to monitor and ensure receipt of stakeholder feedback with the goal of enhanced student success and academic outcomes. Analyze and report findings to program leadership and key stakeholders.  Utilize collected feedback to drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize the overall academic experience, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and objectives. Identify and implement new methods or mechanisms for feedback when appropriate.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in higher education leadership, business administration or related field. At least four years of experience coordinating programs in an educational or corporate environment.
  • Proven ability to exercise high levels of discretion and judgement, providing practical solutions in the resolution of complex issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated success in managing relationships with multiple stakeholders and navigating matrixed organizations to accomplish program goals
