Overview

The Account Manager role is remote-based field sales position with customer-facing activities, for generating revenue and achieving forecast, developing new accounts, and managing existing customers. Able to develop and participate in promotional activities to achieve profitable growth in the assigned territory.

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute a territory plan to meet and exceed the sales objectives for the assigned accounts.
  • Serve as point of contact with customers to develop, maintain, and expand existing business in the territory.
  • Collaborate with assigned Field Application Scientist to strategize optimum customer development from both business and technical perspectives.
  • Hybrid selling environment, including virtual and in-person sales calls to customers and prospects.
  • Follow up on customer inquiries, including additional information, quotes, or sample reserves for lot testing.
  • Work with Customer Service team on order related questions
  • Perform cold outreach emails or calls to generate prospects for increasing the territory funnel maintained in CRM (SalesForce)
  • Follow up on warm leads generated from trade shows and other industry events.
  • Give feedback to inside personnel on changes in the marketplace and competitive information.
  • Attend tradeshows and table shows to engage with prospects and customers and participating in marketing efforts.
  • Use CRM (SalesForce) to record all customer quotes, interactions and communication.
  • Use CRM for forecasting business accurately to the company as required.
  • Qualify, develop, and close opportunities according to strategic and territory plan.
  • Provide feedback for new products based on customer input and suggestions.
  • Complete call reports and any additional paperwork required in a timely fashion.
  • Work within the expense guidelines.

Required Skills/Education

  • Bachelor's degree (B. S. in a Life Science) from a four-year college or university
  • Three to five years related field sales experience and/or training.
  • Intermediate to high level of sales and marketing techniques in a technical environment.
  • Knowledge about markets and trends in assigned territory.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Requires basic ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must be very fluent in the English language to contact prospective customers, explain features and benefits of products, value proposition, and make recommendations based on prospect's circumstances and needs.
  • Travel required: 50%

 

Desired Skills 

  • Experience or knowledge of iPS cell technology or research
  • Experience with Microsoft applications, MS Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Experience with SalesForce CRM
