About the role

As a Claim Operations Sr. Claim Assistant, you will be part of a diverse team accountable for providing back-office support to NA Claims and contributing to the achievement of delivering an exceptional client experience. The main function of an Operations Claim Assistant – Level 2 is to perform complex Claim support activities related to Workers Compensation line of business within a fast-paced, deadline-oriented, and regulatory environment.

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Processing assigned work according to defined workflows and guidelines to deliver a quality product and internal customer service.
  • Ability to balance both quality and productivity expectations within a high-volume, transactional work environment to help meet business and customer service demands.
  • Ensure that all activities performed are documented completely and accurately.
  • Recognize, prioritize, and escalate priority requests according to established guidelines.
  • Create and maintain accurate productivity logs for the purpose of tracking department results.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with our business partners to meet customer requirements.
  • Review and research claim documentation to identify relevant key data.
  • Knowledge and understanding of various state reporting requirements.
  • Timely and accurately complete state filings, consistently meeting quality goals to minimize late filings, rejections and state-imposed penalties
  • Schedule medical appointments and request medical records.
  • Outbound & inbound communications, to include phone calls and emails, for processing of requests  (examples include, but are not limited to: medical appointments/bills and information for filings)
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Operations activities.
  • Assist with training of new hires and cross training of peers.
  • Assist with SOP management and process improvement.
  • Establish and institute back-up plans for coverage and oversight of related job functions during absences. 
  • Collaborate with team members from various work areas within the Operations Department to provide support and assistance when required.
  • Display flexibility and adaptability by willingly undertaking additional tasks or responsibilities as assigned by management or team leaders.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and quality, with delivering a good quality product at the forefront.
  • Ability to handle a high volume of work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Efficient desk and time management skills, with multi-tasking and ability to prioritize various requests
  • Effectively follow workflow and assess information to make sound decisions.
  • Proficient computer processing skills including, but not limited to, knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel, and excellent web-based navigation.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma, Associates degree or insurance business designation preferred
  • 1-3 years Operations or Work Comp experience
  • Prior insurance and/or customer service experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with internal stakeholders and meet business needs.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while efficiently managing multiple tasks.
  • Proficient in desk and time management, with exceptional multitasking and prioritization abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow established workflows and analyze information to make informed decisions.
  • Proficiency in computer operations, including Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and web-based navigation.
  • High school diploma required; associate's degree or insurance business designation preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in operations or workers' compensation, preferably in the insurance industry.
  • Prior experience in insurance and/or customer service is an advantage.
