About the role

Position Overview:
The Department of Psychology at Merrimack College invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice (depending on experience) to serve as Program Director of the new Master’s Program in Industrial/Organizational (I/O) Psychology, beginning Fall 2026.

This is a 12-month appointment with the possibility of teaching and administrative responsibilities. The successful candidate will teach 12 credit hours per semester in the I/O graduate program and undergraduate psychology curriculum, while providing leadership and direction for the launch and growth of the new graduate program.


Responsibilities:

  • Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and related areas.

  • Provide academic leadership as the Program Director, including curriculum development, program assessment, and accreditation preparation.

  • Recruit, mentor, and advise graduate students in the I/O program.

  • Collaborate with faculty, administration, and industry partners to expand internship, practicum, and applied research opportunities.

  • Support program growth and innovation through outreach, marketing, and community partnerships.

  • Participate in departmental, school, and college service.


Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology or closely related field (ABD candidates with expected completion before August 2026 will be considered).

  • Evidence of teaching excellence at the graduate and/or undergraduate level.

  • Demonstrated administrative or leadership experience, preferably in higher education or program development.

  • Active engagement in the field of I/O Psychology (e.g., applied practice, research, consulting).


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing and/or directing graduate programs.

  • Applied industry experience in I/O Psychology.

  • Evidence of building partnerships with external organizations for internships, training, or applied research.

Work Location
This is an on-campus position as employees are essential in order to provide a fully on-campus, residential college experience for our students and the community.

Compensation
The expected 9-month base salary range (paid over 12 months) for the Lecturer is $70,000-85,000, Assistant Professor of Practice position is $74,000-$90,000; for the Associate  Professor of Practice is $90,000-$110,000.
