Junior Varsity Girls Basketball Coach

Position Summary:

Newark High School is seeking a JV Girls Basketball Coach to help lead and develop student-athletes while supporting the overall vision of the basketball program.  This position focuses on skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and preparing athletes for advancement to the varsity level while supporting the overall goals of the athletic department.  Interested candidates should fill out the online application and attach a resume along with professional references. 

Start Date: June 1st

Stipend: $3202.43 (plus pay for years of experience)

Responsibilities:

- Plan and help coach daily practices focused on skill development and fundamentals

- Coach and supervise athletes during games, practices, and team events

- Promote teamwork, sportsmanship and a positive team culture

- Align with the varsity program's philosophy and expectations

- Communicate effectively with players, parents and coaching staff

- Support student-athlete academic success and eligibility

Qualifications:

- Previous basketball coaching or playing experience preferred

- Strong knowledge of fundamentals and player development

- Ability to build relationships and rapport with high school athletes

- Must be willing to complete all IHSA and district coaching requirements

Evaluation: 

-Performance will be evaluated by the head varsity coach based on program development, organization, communication, sportsmanship and alignment with program values.
