The Network Engineer is responsible for managing the configuration, installation and support of network communications including LAN/WAN systems. Evaluating and troubleshooting current systems and working on complex problems where analysis of situation requires in-depth evaluation of various factors. Plans large scale systems projects through vendor comparison and cost studies. Provides work leadership and training to other network engineers. Requires expert knowledge of LAN/WAN systems, networks and applications.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Ongoing support and configuration of all elements of the company’s Data and Voice networks, including routers, switches, telecommunication closets and cabling (9K, 3750x, 2960, 4400, 6509, FortiGate 500/600, SDWAN (Velo, Forti, others), Meraki, Infoblox, Checkpoint, 2901, 2921 and 800 series devices
- Deploy functional networks (LAN, WAN, WLAN and cloud)
- Implement and maintain voice and data network devices, physical cable plant, and supporting tools to provide for the 24X7X365 availability of the technology environment.
- Automate tasks, suggest improvements to network performance, capacity and scalability
- Management of Logon Management / TACACS, Cisco / Fortinet / Wireless, configuration and support of a CISCO CUCM, VGW’s CUCM Express and emergency responder, SIEM tools, AlientVault networking threat analysis systems, IDS / IPS Systems and Triggers
- Monitor corporate and retail network performance and integrity utilizing tools such as Solarwinds and PRTG Network systems
- Support the core MPLS, Internet and DMZ’s, and deployed stores
- Perform vulnerability management, and regular penetration testing maintaining PCI & SOX compliance across the group
- Configure and support Cisco TPM, Copper and Fiber Channel Networks,
- Creates and maintains documentation such as device and site inventories, verification of circuits, floor plans, and technology roadmaps as well as operational policies and procedures
- Optimizes the performance and availability of network and end-user infrastructures through the application of best practices such as performance monitoring, capacity planning, and trend analysis and recommends improved methodologies
- Work closely with colleagues around the globe, contact stores as and when required, maintaining systems, and network and POS systems
- Communicate with group colleagues in over 15 country’s sometimes overcoming language barriers
- Work with suppliers to ensure Claire’s standards are adhered to and changes and corrections are delivered within timescales
- Interface with IT customers to understand business requirements and customer needs and assist in the development of business cases and justifications.
- Install and support technical solutions and implementations.
Requirements
- 4+ years’ experience in network architecture and engineering.
- Experience with SD-WAN technology, such as Velocloud, FortiGate
- Experience with load balancing technology, such as F5
- Experience with NextGen firewalls, such as Checkpoint, FortiGate
- Experience with wireless technology, such as Aerohive, Cisco, FortiAP, Aruba or Juniper
- In-depth knowledge of Voice over IP; experience with Cisco VOIP products
- Experience with PRTG or SolarWinds and other network management and monitoring solutions
- Additional languages preferred, ideally French, German or Spanish
- Strong attention to detail in both project and technology components
- Strong oral, written communication skills including presentation capabilities and sound interpersonal skills.
- Basic project management skills, specifically in the area of task planning, sequencing, scheduling and tracking
- Ability to learn new things quickly, requiring minimal direction and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to accept personal accountability and ownership for areas of responsibility. Pursue solutions and make decisions.
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
