About the Team
The Payroll Performance and Architecture team in Pleasanton helps drive and build scalable solutions within Workday’s Payroll Application Development organization. This team develops innovative payroll features as well as improves architecture to enhance performance and scalability of Workday Payroll application in order to support the world's largest enterprises.About the Role
Collaborate with Engineers and product managers to analyze functional requirements, devise architecture designs that provide real scalability, low latency, and high availability, and implement design into product code
Be responsible for product performance and stability by proactively identifying and diagnosing issues and rapidly identifying root causes to address production issues.
Characterize Performance, Scalability and Resiliency to stakeholders
Participate in escalations to drive the technical conversations
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers
Engage and collaborate with a diverse team that operates globally
Challenge and grow as an engineer in the areas of performance, resilience, and scalability in product development
Contribute ideas for continually improving the team's productivity, job enjoyment
About You
Basic Qualifications:
5+ years experience with Web application development or SaaS (Software as a Service); UML is a plus.
3+ years Object-oriented design and development experience in an OO language (such as Java, Python, C#, C++, XO, etc.)
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
Other Qualifications
You are passionate about creating innovative technical solutions
You take ownership and pride in what you do
Experience building large-scale enterprise-level software with a focus on performance, scalability, and security.
Familiarity with software development practices, agile methodologies, and lean principles.
You have a track record of ensuring that features meet requirements and that stakeholders are kept up to date throughout the development lifecycle.
Proven track of ownership and taking accountability.
Experience with XML and Integration technologies.

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.
