Position Summary: The Associate Director, US West Coast is responsible for developing and implementing security programs and procedures, managing contract employee's performance, and providing specialized services and expertise in security across diverse operations, including Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Warehouse, Distribution, R&D, and office environments. The region of responsibility covers BMS sites in Phoenix, AZ., Seattle & Bothell, WA., San Francisco Bay area and San Diego, CA.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage a security program to protect sites from theft, vandalism, terrorism, workplace violence, civil disturbances, and other illegal activities.

  • Oversee daily operations of contract security teams in collaboration with Integrated Facility Management partners, ensuring sound execution of the site security contract and plan.

  • Conduct investigations and fact-finding reviews for security breaches, recommending corrective actions to mitigate risk.

  • Develop and deliver security awareness presentations to train others and communicate information effectively.

  • Assist with regulatory compliance at GMP facilities, visitor/contractor control, emergency/crisis management planning and response, code of conduct inquiries, internal investigations, workplace violence incidents, and employee performance issues.

  • Develop relationships and serve as the site liaison to public safety agencies, including local and federal law enforcement, emergency medical responders, and state emergency management and homeland security.

  • Stay abreast of current technological trends in electronic security systems and make recommendations to enhance safety and security in a cost-efficient manner.

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of experience in a relevant security-related role, with a focus on security management and program development.

  • In-depth knowledge of large enterprise access control, intrusion detection, and video systems.

  • Understanding of business networks and vulnerabilities related to improperly configured access control systems.

  • Experience in the Pharmaceutical industry is preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, security, or loss prevention. Other degrees will be considered if security management capability is demonstrated.

  • ASIS international certifications in CPP and/or PSP a plus.

  • Self-motivated and able to begin projects and work without supervision.

  • Proficient in common business software and communication applications.

  • Experience with program/product/process implementation in a highly regulated pharmaceutical production environment.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences at multiple levels within the company using written, oral, and multimedia modalities.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret data.

  • Ability to understand and maintain a high level of confidentiality.

  • Proficient in using electrical drawings for plotting security devices and network connections.

  • Expertise in large-scale network access control systems and the ability to partner with Information Technology.

  • Strong technical writing capability, with the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical materials, procedures, or governmental guidelines.
