Contingent Position Notice

This position is contingent upon contract award. Employment is conditional on Rural Metro Fire / Capstone being awarded the referenced contract and is subject to successful completion of all pre-employment requirements, including background check, drug screening, and any client- or contract-specific clearances. Start date will be determined following contract award and may be adjusted based on the contract's period of performance. Candidates selected through this posting will be notified of their status once the award decision is finalized.

  

  

Job Summary:  
Firefighter / Apparatus Operator/EMTs, under direct supervision, trains for and participates in duties and related responsibilities of an emergency and/or hazardous nature in fire suppression, emergency operations, responds to fire alarms and other emergency calls to protect life and property; drives, operates and maintains fire apparatus and equipment. Although firefighting and rescue work are the most difficult and responsible areas of activity, the major portion of time is spent drilling and studying methods, techniques, and organization, and in routine duties in the care and maintenance of customer property and equipment. 

 
This is considered a confidential safety sensitive position and is subject to both the Company’s Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, which includes: pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing and follow-up testing. 

 

Required Qualifications:   

• 21 years old
• Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED certificate and must successfully pass the background investigation, pre-employment drug screening and pre-employment physical for firefighters
• At least 3 years fire service experience
• Valid State or National EMT certification (highly desirable)
• Valid State of Texas Class B driver’s license with clean driving record. 
• Valid State, IFSAC, ProBoard or equivalent Fire Apparatus Driver Operator  NFPA 1002
• NFPA 1001 Firefighter 1- State, IFSAC, ProBoard or equivalent
• NFPA 1001 Firefighter 2- State, IFSAC, ProBoard or equivalent (highly desirable)
• NFPA 472 Hazardous Materials First Responder Operations- State, ProBoard, IFSAC or equivalent
• NFPA 1006 Confined Space Rescue Technician (desirable)
• NFPA 1006 Rope Rescue Technician (desirable)

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: 

Administration Task: 

• Prepares timely and accurate reports and maintains company files in an up-to-date status, as required.  Reports include but not limited to, Daily Unit logs (214), Activity Reports, PCRs, Accident reports, Reimbursement reports, and electronic mail. 
• Monitors/prepares the work and training schedule and communicates with team members in preparation for the assignment. 
• Stays abreast of all company communication including but not limited to emails, newsletters, memos, meetings, videos. 
• Maintains confidentiality with employees, customer and contractual information. 
• Maintains the company reputation through positive direct contact with customers, agencies, vendors, subcontractors and the public.
• Abides by and reinforces the Company’s objectives, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, mission, guiding principles, and advocates for them.  
• Attends meetings, participates in conference calls and reads and understands all company communications including policies procedures.

 

Supervision and Team Development: 

• May supervise a team in the performance of the technical aspects of their work and may take charge of complex and difficult tasks, as appropriate.  May determine work procedures based on contractual scope of
