POSITION SUMMARY:
The Substitute Teacher is the person in the classroom to present instruction of course content, facilitate learning opportunities and assess student participation and achievement when the primary teacher is absent. Substitute Teachers are a critical component of the continuation of instruction at Maranatha High School and each individual student, and are expected to comply with the job duties and expectations set forth below or as assigned by School Administration from time to time.
STATEMENT OF FAITH:

Employee shall follow Biblical patterns and principles and will manifest by precept and example the highest Christian virtues, values and personal decorum to serve as a Christian role model at all times. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
General responsibilities include the following duties and expectations. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs. Employee is expected to:

Facilitate a positive and productive learning environment as designed by the primary teacher

Facilitate opportunities for student achievement

Facilitate for instruction of applicable course content

Follow the primary teacher’s lesson plans
-
Assess student behavior and manage a classroom
-
Responsible for student grading within timeline and deadlines set by the primary teacher (when necessary)
-
Communicate with the Dean of Academics should an academic concern arise
-
Communicate effectively and regularly with the primary teacher about student progress
-
Attend break or lunch duties and other staff or school functions as assigned
-
Assume other responsibilities as assigned from time to time, including, but not limited to, supervision of student breaks/lunches, Chapel/assemblies and general enforcement of campus standards, as assigned by the primary teacher or the Dean of Academics

Be an example of Christian maturity to students, families, and colleagues

Be fully committed to Maranatha’s mission of providing a quality college preparatory education in an intentional Christ-honoring community of faith, belief and practice. Able to affirm through exhibiting personal and professional support of the School’s Mission, Statement of Faith and Lifestyle Statement

Collaborate, interact and work well with others, including students, parents and guardians, staff, faculty, administration, alumni, vendors and any other personnel involved with the School or education process

Adhere to MHS policies, procedures, and guidelines; as well as applicable industry and employment regulations

Respect confidentiality of all personal and organizational information

Maintain a positive, collaborative, cooperative, helpful attitude and a team spirit is the hallmark of the support staff at MHS

Comply with any duty, obligation, requirement or directive given to Employee by Administration
