Overview
The Site Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting volunteer mentors and matching them with referred youth at Roosevelt Elementary Schools. This position works to foster positive youth development by coordinating meaningful mentoring experiences, family engagement opportunities, and service-learning activities.
The Site Coordinator will monitor mentoring relationships to ensure successful matches and provide ongoing support to youth, mentors, and families. Responsibilities also include planning and implementing monthly program activities, such as group mentoring events, 4-H afterschool clubs, Family Night Out events, and community service projects that strengthen youth leadership, family involvement, and community connection.
Responsibilities
- Recruit and engage 20 to 25 youth participants from each elementary school site.
- Recruit, screen, train, and support up to eight teen volunteer mentors.
- Create and facilitate mentoring groups by matching youth participants with trained teen mentors.
- Monitor mentoring relationships to ensure positive engagement and program success.
- Assist in planning and implementing monthly Family Night Out events and group mentoring activities.
- Lead a weekly 4-H Afterschool Club, delivering educational and enrichment programming for youth.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with youth in educational, mentoring, recreational, or community-based settings.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to listen actively and convey information effectively.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with keen attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities, schedules, and work assignments.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with youth, families, volunteers, community partners, and colleagues.
- Cultural competence and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and multicultural communities.
- Collaborative team player who fosters trust, professionalism, and positive working relationships.
- Strong work ethic with a commitment to delivering high-quality results and successfully completing assigned responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience recruiting, training, or supervising volunteers.
- Experience facilitating youth programs, afterschool activities, mentoring programs, or family engagement initiatives.
- Knowledge of positive youth development principles and practices.
- Experience working with diverse youth and families in community-based settings.

Advertised Salary
$15.00 per hourADA
- Work is primarily performed in a school and community-based environment.
- Regular interaction with youth, volunteer mentors, families, school personnel, and community partners is required.
- Must be able to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, volunteers, and school staff.
- Occasional attendance at evening or off-site program activities may be required.
- Must be able to occasionally lift and carry materials and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to move throughout school facilities and activity locations to support program operations and events.
