Position Title: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Reports to: Business Development and Staffing Manager

Location: New Orleans, LA

Employment Status: Full-Time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt 


Position Summary: Aldevra is currently seeking a qualified Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to support the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System (SLVHCS) in New Orleans, LA. This position is contingent upon contract award.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide patients' personal hygiene by giving bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, and shaves; assisting with travel to the bathroom; helping with showers and baths.
  • Provide for activities of daily living by assisting with serving meals, feeding patients as necessary; ambulating, turning, and positioning patients; providing fresh water and nourishment between meals.
  • Provide adjunct care by administering enemas, douches, nonsterile dressings, surgical preps, ice packs, heat treatments, sitz and therapeutic baths, applying restraints.
  • Maintain patient stability by checking vital signs and weight; testing urine; recording and documenting intake and output information on appropriate forms and in the electronic medical record.
  • Provide patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; answering patients' call lights and requests; reporting observations of the patient to nursing supervisor.
  • Document actions by completing forms, reports, and records.
  • Maintain work operations by following policies and procedures.
  • Protect the organization's value by keeping patient information confidential.
  • Serve and protect the hospital community by adhering to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and The Joint Commission standards.
  • One-to-one observation to include virtual observation.
  • Performing capillary blood glucose and monitoring
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Security Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain a SLVHCS security badge.  

This position requires passing an extensive background check.


Qualifications:

  • Full and unrestricted CNA Certification for the state of Louisiana
  • HIPAA trained and certified  
  • Valid driver's license
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and telephone manner
  • Excellent and accurate written communication
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems; online calendars and cloud systems; intermediate to advanced skills Microsoft office products required
  • Excellent attention to detail; accurate data entr
