Position Summary
To assist the Head Coach in all facets of the program with emphasis on teaching and mentoring team members relative to sport specific skills, NCAA II rules and regulations, individual and team development concepts as well as life skills education. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Head Coach.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assists the head coach in managing and directing the program.
- Assists the head coach with all aspects of the program including training, practices, player instruction, game preparation, competing and scheduling.
- Assists in the coordination of travel arrangements.
- Assists in completion and processing of paperwork as requested.
- Assists with recruiting including calling prospective student-athletes, evaluating high school and junior college players, and maintaining accurate records and data bases on the NCAA Compliance Assistant program.
- Works cooperatively with personnel in the athletic department, attends department meetings and activities, and always represents the University in a positive manner when interacting with the community, alumni, coaches, the media and the general public.
- Responsible for knowing, understanding, and abiding by Walsh University policy and procedure and NCAA II compliance legislation and conference rules.
- Failure to comply by Walsh University policy and procedure and NCAA II compliance legislation and conference rules will be grounds for discipline and/or termination.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required by the Head Coach and the Vice President for Athletics/Athletic Director.

Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Must understand and support the Mission, Vision and Code of Ethical Conduct of Walsh University, as a Catholic higher education university as expressed in Ex Corde Ecclesiae, and possess the following:
Education:
Bachelors degree required.
Work Experience:
At least 3 years experience in the field of basketball, including playing and coaching. Other significant experience relative to coaching basketball and/or the administration of an intercollegiate athletics program can be considered.
Skills and abilities:
- Professional demeanor and ability to interact with charity towards students, staff and faculty. Positive attitude a must.
- Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; Word, Excel, Outlook
