Staff Research Associate
UC San Francisco (UCSF)About the role
The Quantitative Biosciences Institute (QBI) Krogan Lab at UCSF is seeking a qualified and motivated Staff Research Associate II (SRA II) to join a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment focused on neurodevelopmental disorders and functional proteomics.
Under general supervision of the research leadership, the incumbent will assist in mapping protein interactions and pathways in various cell types involved in neurodevelopmental disorders. This role is an excellent opportunity to learn several valuable, cutting edge techniques in molecular biology, neuroscience and proteomics. Research responsibilities include mammalian cell culture and maintenance; molecular cloning; affinity purification and proximity labeling experiments; expression of tagged proteins and patient-derived variants; preparation of samples for downstream mass spectrometry analysis; and application of molecular, cellular, and biochemical assays to validate experimental findings.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and table of balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced research environment. Strong problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams are essential.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Identify the functions or tasks that employees in the job perform. The essential functions should state the purpose of the work and the results to be accomplished, rather than how the function is performed. Of the tasks listed, what percentage of time is devoted to each? The more time employees spend on a function, the more likely it is that the function is essential. Generally, include those functions that account for 10% or more of the work, i.e., key items that contribute significantly to the achievement of the job. The functions should add up to 100%.
