ASRC Federal is seeing a Linux System Administrator. This is a remote position.
Key Role:
• Manage, maintain, and support Linux-based servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.) in physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
• Monitor system performance, ensure system availability, and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
• Perform software installations, upgrades, and patch management using tools such as yum, dnf, or apt.
• Implement and maintain security best practices, including FIPS compliance, firewall management, and secure SSH configurations.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and authentication mechanisms such as Winbind, SSSD, and LDAP.
• Configure and maintain system services such as Apache, Nginx, Tomcat, and PostgreSQL.
• Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as log analysis, file system checks, and disk space management.
• Administer backup and disaster recovery processes, ensuring data integrity and recovery readiness.
• Collaborate with developers and application teams to support deployment and integration tasks.
• Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
• Participate in on-call rotation and respond to system outages and incidents.
Qualifications:
• 5-7 years of experience as a Linux System Administrator in an enterprise environment.
• Strong knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and other major Linux distributions.
• Proficiency in system administration tasks such as package management, user management, and network configuration.
• Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Bash scripting, or Python.
• Familiarity with virtualization platforms such as VMware, KVM, or Hyper-V.
• Working knowledge of cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
• Strong understanding of file systems (XFS, EXT4), logical volume management (LVM), and disk partitioning.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting system performance issues, including CPU, memory, and I/O bottlenecks.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts such as DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP.
• Knowledge of security best practices and hardening techniques.
• Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification.
• Experience with System Storage Manager (SSM) and other Linux storage tools.
• Experience working with PKI infrastructures, certificate management, and encryption standards such as FIPS 140-2.
• Knowledge of SolarWinds, Nagios, or similar monitoring tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Existing security clearance preferred. Ability to acquire and maintain a security clearance required.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Certification RHCSA or RHCE
