Job Summary:

Supports delivery of patient care by providing clerical and receptionist services to patients, families, visitors, staff, physicians, departments that support patient care, and all other customers of a Patient Care Unit with regular guidance. Facilitates efficient workflow, supports appropriate use of technology, and fosters effective communication.

About the Department:

The environment on our unit is fast-paced, supportive, and at times, unpredictable.  We care for adult patients ranging in age from 18 and older who are being treated for a variety of neurological disorders, including acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, subdural and epidural hematoma, subarachnoid hemorrhage, seizures, Guillain-Barré syndrome, myasthenia gravis exacerbation, meningitis and encephalitis, spinal cord injury, cerebrovascular intervention, and brain and spinal tumor resection.   Our patients are unique because of their specialized neurological needs.

Your Schedule:

• Full-Time Night Shift - 6:45 pm - 7:15 am (three 12-hour shifts/week)
• Shifts rotate throughout the week
• Note: Set schedules are not available.  Schedules are determined by unit clinical staffing needs.
• All Employees (Night shift & PRN included) are required to attend hospital orientation during regular daytime hours during the first week of employment.

• One year of previous experience in a hospital setting

• Maintains unit log according to guidelines, makes follow up appointments, and performs discharge related clerical tasks.
• Responds to patient call system and patient requests providing clear, current information to families, visitors and staff.
• Uses telephone, patient call system, beeper/paging system, fax/copy machine, scanning, unit specific monitoring devices, pneumatic tube system and to facilitate flow of communication, equipment and supplies.
