The Program Manager for the Minnesota Polytechnic and Applied Learning Institute (MinnPoly), at Minnesota State University, Mankato, provides strategic and operational support to work-based learning (WBL) and 2+2 partner programs delivered throughout the state of Minnesota, in alignment with the System's and University's strategic directions and high priority goals. The position manages the administrative and daily operations of the programs, evaluates and reports on program metrics, and manages contracts and grants. The position reports to the Director of Operations and Industry Partnerships of
MinnPoly and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that current and emerging WBL programming and services responds to the needs of students, faculty, community college partners, industry, and the region.
MinnPoly is an institute that houses a collaborative model with system partners to deliver programs at community college partner campuses in the Twin Cities metro area as well as delivering via online and new modes (e.g. boot camp, project-based learning, and work-based learning/co-op models) responsive to industry needs. The position will provide oversight for the day-to-day WBL program activities including logistics/operations, coordination with partner campus services, further development, budget monitoring, assessment, scheduling, and more.
The Program Manager models and implements practices that support diversity, equity, and inclusion, including increased pathways and success of underrepresented students in polytechnical degree programs.
Providing coordination, managing diverse relationships and program needs, ensuring program assessment and reporting, this position will facilitate a quality experiential learning environment for students, faculty, staff, and partners while increasing enrollment, student success, and collaborations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s Degree related to polytechnic areas, education/teaching, or business, with training or experience in educating diverse learners and 3 years of experience in delivering STEM, polytechnic programming or similar academic programming. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Extensive experience with assessing industry needs; experience working with people at all levels of higher education to develop and facilitate programs and services to internal and external audiences; understanding of and experience with practices that support diversity, equity, and inclusion and excellent communication skills.
- Experience building networks of colleagues throughout the public sector and to effectively persuade clients and other governmental officials by understanding complex and oftentimes, competing relationships and political agendas.
- Communicate sufficient to mobilize action to achieve organizational goals, to coach and advise other program staff, to speak to individuals and groups to resolve differences of opinion and to speak at public forums.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
Preferred Qualification
- Doctoral Degree related to one or more objectives of polytechnic programming.
- Experience coordinating teams, managing group dynamics, and supporting professional development of individual team members.
- Ability to write reports, bulletins, procedures, rules, and correspondence sufficient to describe, promote and justify current and future program initiatives and outcomes.
- Ability to engage in professional leadership and service, at the state, national and international levels to advance strategic MinnPoly objectives and reputation.
- Advanced organizational and project management skills and budget oversight.
- Experience in workforce and/or STEM programming grants and/or fundraising experience
- Experience with project-based learning
- Demonstrated ability to establish professional relationships (with industry representatives, students, college faculty, colleagues).
