Overview of Position:

The Food & Nutrition Specialist is responsible for supervision over all food service workers. Expected to maintain adequate staffing and supervise the operation of the tray line, cafeteria and other kitchen duties, including dish room and sanitation. In absence of the Manager, this position assumes responsibility of entire department operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1.    Oversees entire staff on duty in the absence of manager.
2.    Enforces department and organizational policies.
3.    Performs managerial cash duties / runs appropriate financial reports.
4.    Completes appropriate reports, logs & documents as required.
5.    Monitors work to ensure food is prepared in a sanitary and safe environment.
6.    Fields and handles calls from outside the department.
7.    Maintains privacy and confidentiality at all times.
8.    Participates in mandatory in-service meetings (e.g. TB testing, safety, HIPAA).


QUALIFICATIONS
1.    High School diploma or equivalent required.
2.    Required to maintain active ServSafe certification (must obtain certification within 6 months of hire date).
3.    Experience in a food service supervisory role required.
4.    Ability to read, write and explain detailed information.
5.    Ability to communicate effectively in an oral and written manner, as well as the ability to observe, assess, guide and evaluate others.
6.    Basic knowledge of learning principles.
7.    Excellent organizational skills.
8.    Knowledge of food preparation, food safety and sanitation practices.
