Arabic Translator- Camp Buehring, Kuwait

 

V2X has a requirement for a Translator in support of the ARCENT Training & Range Operations Maintenance Services (ATROMS) contract in Kuwait. 

 

Job Description:

The Translator will execute Interpreter and Translation duties as required in Kuwait, and must be prepared to deploy throughout the CENTCOM AOR. The Translator will also develop and prepare tactical instructional material in Modern Standard Arabic (oral and written); brief senior military and civilian officials; and translate military tactical concepts from English to Arabic and vice-versa. The Translator must be able to develop concepts, techniques and standards, and verbally communicate them in English and Arabic. 

 

Required Hours:

Standard work week will be six (6) days per week for up to eight (8) hours per day while at OCONUS work site(s), and a standard 40-hour work week while at CONUS work sites. 

 

Responsibilities:

The Translator shall be responsible for:

• Review, revise, and develop doctrinal concepts and translate into Modern Standard Arabic for Coalition partner use.
• Review proposed ARCENT exercise concepts and scenarios, and recommend revisions and insights based on cultural experience and expertise.
• Conduct simultaneous translation in English/Arabic between ATROMS Team members and Coalition military and civilian leaders, up to the General Officer/Flag Officer level.
• Analyze conversations and recommend responses in order to enhance understanding and avoid miscommunication.
• Translate complex military concepts into written products using MS PowerPoint and MS Word for presentation to senior military leaders. Be prepared to brief these products and answer questions pertaining to them as required.
• Collaboratively develop and prepare Civilians on the Battlefield (COB) role playing instructions, for inclusion into training exercises. Be prepared to serve as a key role-player as required.
• Recommend and develop training products and techniques to facilitate LV&G USARCENT/Host Nation training objectives.
• Performs other duties as directed by the Program Manager.

 

Required Qualifications:

• Fluent English/Arabic Speaker with extensive military knowledge and experience.
• Extensive experience creating products employing MS Office, especially MS PowerPoint and MS Word.

Desired Qualifications:

• Previous military experience in an Arabic-speaking country.
• Knowledge of current US Army Doctrine, Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs).

Required Education:

• Must have a Bachelors degree and 6 year’s work experience.

 

Contractor personnel shall comply with all theater command policies, regulations, and General Orders.  All tours are unaccompanied.
