About the role

Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Neurological Surgery invites applications for Research Assistant Professors in the area of brain-machine interfaces.  The appointees' primary activity will be to conduct academic research in association with a faculty member or team.  Specifically, appointees will use neural decoding from Utah arrays implanted into patients to develop a truly biomimetic hand prothesis.  Within this context, the appointees will focus on developing an independent program with an expectation of ultimately acquiring external support for their research.

 

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must have: 1) a doctoral degree or equivalent in neurosciences, engineering, or a related field, and 2) completed post-doctoral training.
