Job Description:
Saab, Inc. is seeking a motivated Lead Hardware Quality Engineer to join our growing team in East Syracuse, NY. In this key role, you will drive program success and continuous improvement by developing and implementing quality assurance methods and protocols within your assigned area. You will work cross-functionally with Program Management, Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain to ensure products are developed, manufactured, and delivered with the highest standards of quality and compliance.
Primary responsibilities will include:
Serve as the primary point of contact for all quality-related issues on assigned programs.
Lead an interdisciplinary program quality team, including Software Quality, Inspection, and Supplier Quality.
Perform contract reviews, quality program planning, and requirements flow-down.
Develop quality performance estimates to support cost proposals and project schedules.
Manage Supplier Quality activities for assigned program(s).
Generate and review Engineering Change Requests and Notices (ECR/N) and participate in Configuration Control Boards (CCB).
Identify, evaluate, and disposition nonconforming material.
Serve as Chair of the Material Review Board.
Provide quality support to internal manufacturing operations.
Plan and conduct internal product and process audits.
Support second- and third-party audits.
Identify, communicate, and execute value-added process improvement initiatives.
Influence program execution activities in accordance with internal standards and procedures.
Perform data analysis and trend monitoring.
Manage quality-related data within Oracle ERP.
Monitor and track Corrective Action Requests and Corrective Action Plans.
Prevent shipment of nonconforming material through in-process and final inspection activities.
Ability to travel up to 10% per year.
Compensation Range: $112,900 - $146,800
The compensation range provided is a general guideline. Skills and Experience:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related discipline.
10+ years of relevant quality experience.
Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems compliant with ISO 9001:2015.
Technical knowledge of electro-mechanical products, manufacturing processes, and special processes.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to internal and external stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Desired Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related discipline.
Experience supporting Department of Defense programs.
Working knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) programs, procedures, and processes.
Working knowledge of SEI CMMI Level 3 Version 2.0 requirements.
Experience with Oracle ERP or similar enterprise systems.
ASQ Certified Quality Engineer certification.
IPC certifications or other relevant industry certifications.
Citizenship Requirements:
