Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Water/Wastewater Hydraulic Modeling Engineer/Project Manager to join our Colorado water, wastewater, and conveyance group. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil or environmental engineering with a focus on hydraulic analysis of water distribution and wastewater collection systems. The primary responsibility of this role is to mentor staff to conduct hydraulic computations and computer modeling and analysis of water and wastewater systems using specialized software, as well as manage hydraulic modeling and planning related projects. Desired but not required skills include experience in hydraulic transient analysis. This position offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address complex engineering challenges in the water and wastewater sector.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following duties:
- Conduct hydraulic computations and computer modeling and analysis of water distribution and wastewater collection systems using software tools such as InfoWater, InfoSewer, WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, H2OMap, EPANET, SWMM / PCSWMM and InfoWorks ICM.
- Develop calibrated hydraulic models of existing water and wastewater infrastructure to simulate system performance under various scenarios.
- Analyze and interpret modeling results to provide insights into system behavior and identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.
- Collaborate with engineers, planners, and other stakeholders to integrate modeling insights into the design and planning of water and wastewater projects.
- Work with ArcGIS, AutoCAD, or relational database management software (such as MS-Access, SQL Server, or Oracle) to integrate spatial data into modeling workflows.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation using strong communication skills to communicate modeling findings and recommendations effectively.
- Provide technical support and guidance to project teams and clients regarding water and wastewater modeling methodologies and software applications.
- Mentor, train, and guide junior hydraulic modelers and engineers on water and wastewater hydraulic modeling analyses.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements related to water and wastewater modeling.
- Direct project team and client compliance with contract terms and monitor subcontractors' compliance with contractual commitments.
- Manage water and wastewater planning related projects. Prepare project work plan, scope, schedule, and budget, and communicate these to project team members; monitor/manage project production for compliance with schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA / BS environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field and 8 years of relevant experience in water/wastewater hydraulic analysis and computer modeling or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience leading modeling aspects of projects and/or mentoring junior staff.
- Experience with multiple hydraulic transient modeling software platforms.
- Strong understanding of water and wastewater systems, hydraulic principles, and modeling techniques.
- Proficiency in using modeling software such as InfoWater, InfoSewer, WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, H2OMap, EPANET, SWMM / PCSWMM and InfoWorks ICM for hydraulic analysis and design.
- Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and database software such as ArcGIS, AutoCAD, MS-Access, SQL Server, or Oracle for spatial analysis and data visualization.
