Job Description
AECOM is seeking a motivated graduate engineer to join our expanding water engineering practice. The selected candidate will become part of an established water/wastewater engineering and construction management practice working on a large design-build upgrade of a wastewater treatment plant in northern Virginia.
Responsibilities include:
Candidate will support and assist the Construction Manager with quality assurance inspections, resolution of field issues, documentation of scope changes, and administration of field documentation including submittals and RFIs. As field engineer, the candidate will work on site daily with the AECOM construction management team.
- Assist the Quality Assurance team with field inspections to evaluate the work performed, materials used, and labor deployed. Provide a daily report of the work observed.
- Provide Engineering support to the Construction Manager in researching contract issues toward resolution / problem solving options.
- Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and sketches
- Assist with construction administration including processing and monitoring of Contractor submittals and RFIs
- Assist the Deputy Construction Manager with documentation of Contractor deficiencies and deviations from plans
- Participate in review and provide input to the Construction Manager in evaluation of contractor claims and change order proposals.
- Monitor and document all Engineering or Client initiated scope changes to verify conformance to the contract requirements.
- Attend and participate in regular progress and coordination meetings with the Contractor, Plant Operating personnel, Design Team and other Stakeholders as needed.
- Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
- Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Construction Engineering plus 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
- At least 2 years of related experience with design and/or construction oversight of wastewater treatment plant upgrades and construction.
- Proficiency with Excel, Bluebeam, SharePoint, and/or AutoCAD.
